Dr. Happawana is a board-certified clinical and forensic psychologist. He is licensed in Alaska, Ohio, and Virginia.
Dr. Happawana earned his Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of California San Diego in La Jolla, California in 2015. He went on to obtain a master’s degree (2017) and doctorate (2020) in clinical, counseling, and applied psychology from William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. He has also earned a post-doctoral Master of Science degree in clinical psychopharmacology (2025) from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. This degree partially fulfills the requirements to prescribe medication as a psychologist.
Dr. Happawana has over 10 years of direct forensic and clinical experience. Training sites included a variety of locations, some of which included the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, Weill-Cornell Medical Center, and the New York University Langone Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. He was a direct commission into the United States Air Force in 2019 and completed his internship/residency with the 88th medical group at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He then completed his permanent duty assignment at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson with the 673d Operational Medical Readiness Squadron.
He has since transitioned into full-time private practice to focus solely on forensic and clinical psychology. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology, Fellow with the American Academy of Clinical Psychology, and currently serves as a chair/board examiner for candidates who are seeking board certification in clinical psychology.
